We see a lot more growth in Celaena and you kind of start to understand why she acts like she does, why she’s as guarded as she is… I loved seeing her development. One of the brilliant things about this book were the characters and the arcs that they went through. In my personal reading experience, I can never seem to find a second book that is as good as – or better – than the first, but Crown of Midnight does this! Hands down! i genuinely think that it may be even better than Throne of Glass. (But then this book also rips out my heart, throws it on the ground and then stomps the absolute shit out of it in the process). There is more action in this book, there are more plot twists, more excitement and more character development which is everything that a second book in a series should be and more. I had to have more of these characters and their adventures. I feel the opening paragraph is all you need from me for this review… I mean what else could I possibly say? Well… I’ll try and go into more depth for you.Īfter finishing Throne of Glass, I immediately started Crown of Midnight. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for. Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances-not the Crown Prince Dorian not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. She hides her secret vigilantly she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown.

Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. I didn’t think I could love/hate the characters any more but I did, I didn’t think that the plot could get more crazy, BUT IT DEFINITELY DID! If you can’t tell already, this is a 5 star book.įrom the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. I didn’t think this series could get better but OH MY GOD! It did! It really really did.
